Click below to see a recording of a live blogging session created by CoveritLive. The basic version of this online program is free. Once a session is set up you copy the embedd code into your blog site and at the assigned date/time students can participate in a live conversation\interaction from your blog site. As a teacher you act as a moderator with the CoveritLive panel open. When students send comments you have a number of options available to you, including the ability to add their comments to your blog. Images, videos, and polls can be shared in this live synchronous session. When the session is ended, it will be saved, and stored on your blog site, as illustrated below.
Implications for educators: Can be used as a back-channel to discuss videos while they are being displayed. Teacher can have questions prepared in advance and post them while video is in session. Great place to get feedback from students who are often to shy to speak up in class. Students can come back to the blog later and preview the blog recording. Having students use their own mobile devices or using your school's mobile laptop unit (If you have one) in the classroom may help perk up this activity.
